St Thomas Aquinas Parish News – Holy Week At Home

Dear St Thomas Aquinas Parish Families,

The attached resources are for our Parish families to help us all negotiate Holy Week at home.  They also provide you with opportunities for virtual pastoral contact between our Parish and Parishioners during this time.

Here are some ideas to help you:

Palm Sunday:  Take a green branch from your garden.  Gather the family together and, with each person holding a branch, pray together.

The End of Lent:  With the end of Lent, you may wish to keep your Project Compassion boxes/envelopes until our Parish resumes or you could make your gift online at lent.caritas.org.au/donate/.  Your gift for Project Compassion is a sign of your commitment to reconciliation, justice and love.

Holy Thursday:  In the evening, gather around the dining room table and, if possible, light a candle.  When everyone is seated at the table, begin your prayer.

Good Friday:  If you have a cross or crucifix, place it on the table in front of you.  If not, you may be able to make a simple cross.  Spend a moment to kneel and venerate the cross.  “Behold the wood of the Cross on which hung the salvation of the world.”

Easter Sunday:  Water is a sign of life, the life of Christ begun at our baptism.  Place a bowl of water on the table in front of you.  Easter Sunday, the Day of the Lord’s Resurrection, is an opportunity to renew our baptismal faith.

May God bless you and keep you safe.

Fr Paul and Fr Michael
